Remove a Bad Google Review

All is not lost when you see a review left on Google that is very unfair to your business. You can have it removed! But there are conditions set in place by Google.

Here’s How to Get a Review Removed from Google

You work hard to please your customers and clients. It is understandable that it is very upsetting when one of them leaves an unfair scathing review. Or they thought they were reviews a completely different company than yours!

Ask for a Google Assessment of That Review

First, keep in mind that Google will remove reviews when you point out that the review on your business violated Google’s review policies.

1. Go to Google Maps.
2. Flag the bad review.
3. Alternatively, open your Google Business Profile.
4. Look at the bottom right of the page and click BUSINESS.
5. Click REVIEWS.
6. Find the review and click the MORE vertical dots icon.
7. Click to REPORT REVIEW.

If needed, you can also report the person’s profile.

1. Click the person’s name on the review.
2. Click MORE.
3. Then click REPORT PROFILE.

You Cannot Report These Review Types

Google has little tolerance for this whole process. So, these are the main reasons they’ll reject your request to have a review removed.

• If you just don’t like the review.
• If there is no reliable way to tell who is right in the situation.
• If it is a 3rd party hotel review. (You need to request removal from the 3rd party, not Google.)
• If it is a disagreement about the facts that happened.

If your complaint about the review is one or more of these situations, don’t waste your time reporting it to Google. They will refuse your removal request.

Google Search Reviews

If the bad (or incorrect) review for your business is appearing in the Google Search results, you can report those, also.

1. Click on Report Review.
2. Log into your Google Business Profile.
3. Find the review then press the INFO icon.
4. Select the type of violation you feel applies.

You’ll want to log into the Review Management Tool from your Google Business Profile after you report this review you feel needs to be remove. There you will see the status of your reported review.

Always make sure you’re logging into Google Business Profile with the correct email address for your business. Many times, we have several Gmail accounts, so double check which one you’re using for this Business Profile and write it down. It’ll save you a lot of frustration later.
